October 3, 2013

Montreal, Quebec, October 3rd, 2013 - The Muslim Council of Montreal (MCM) invites all Montrealers of conscience to join a Freedom Caravan this weekend, travelling to Quebec City, by cars and buses, to protest against the Quebec Charter of Values before the Quebec National Assembly.

“We call on all Montrealers to join us in Quebec City, as we continue to protest against this policy of institutionalized discrimination, which contravenes not only the constitution and charter of rights and freedoms of Quebec and Canada, but also international human rights law.,” stated Salam Elmenyawi, president of MCM. “Each day, more and more individuals and organizations are speaking out to denounce this Charter, making clear what the true values of our province are.  Together we will send a strong and clear message that we reject this tyranny and that we will protect the rights of all Quebecers and Canadians.”

The demonstration will take place on Sunday October 6th, 2013 and departure will be at 9am. There will be two meeting points in Montreal:

In the East:  Parking du Boulevard (Intersection Jean-Talon & Pie IX)

In the West: Parking les Galeries St-Laurent (Intersection Marcel Laurin & Avenue de St-Exupéry)
