Wenesday, November 18th is the first day of Thul-Hijja, and Eid Ul-Adha is on Friday, November 27th, 2009

November 17, 2009
Assalamou alaikoum wa rahmatou Allahi wa barakatouh,

This is to let you know that, based on credible reports, the crescent has been sighted in number of places in our agreed upon horizon (matlaa) in accordance with the imams' approved criteria. Therefore, Wednesday, November 18th will be the first day of  Thul-Hijja, and Friday, November 27th will be the day of Eid-ul-Adha, in shaa Allah Taala.
Alhmdou lillah, this would agree with sightings in many places around the world, including in Mecca.

Please take advantage of the coming 10 days, described by Rasoul Allah (SAAW) to be the best days of the year, where good deeds are regarded very highly by Allah Taala.

On behalf of MCM, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy and blessed Eid, may Allah Subhanaho wa Taala accept our good deeds, forgive us our shortcomings, show us the straight path, enlighten us with knowledge of our Deen, to be able to differentiate the right from wrong, the friends from enemies and to be able to recognise the right priorities in our life, unite us, join our hearts, protect us from Satan and his schemes, and while being proud of serving Allah, and of who we are, may He put love in our hearts toward one another, the love in Allah Taala, which would supersede any race, colour, nationality or cultural background, to make us just and fair with one another as well as with all others, to make us compassionate and merciful in our interactions and guide us all toward success in this life and the hereafter. Ameen.

Please also remember our brothers and sisters around the world in your duaa, especially those who may not be able to celebrate Eid fully because of the hardships they are facing.

Jazakoum Allaho Khiran, Eid Mubarak
Wa assalamou alaikoum
Salam Elmenyawi
