Muslim Council of Montreal to hold annual Open Doors event at mosques across the city

Montreal, Quebec, May 31st, 2008- The Muslim Council of Montreal (MCM) extends an open invitation to the Montreal community to partake in a weekend long Open Doors event, taking place at 17 different mosques in the Montreal area from May 31st to June 2nd, 2008.

 

"This Open Doors event is a unique opportunity for members of different religious and cultural groups in Montreal to come together," said Salam Elmenyawi, president of MCM. "Together we can build bridges of social cohesion in our communities, embracing and promoting feelings of respect, understanding, peace and goodwill."

 

Please find attached a detailed list of all mosques that will be participating in the Open House. Visitors will be given a tour of the mosque, as well as be able to view presentations and displays on various topics. Volunteers will be on hand to answer visitor's questions. Free literature and refreshments will be available.

 

As the mosque is a religious institution, visitors are requested to dress modestly and remove their shoes when entering the prayer room. Photo and interview opportunities will be available.
